WOMEN INITIATIVE FOR TRANSPARENCY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE (WITSOJ)

A mass meeting held in 2007 in Rivers State by diverse professionals; organizations, community based groups, labour unions and the American Solidarity Centre, gave birth to WOMEN INITIATIVE FOR TRANSPARENCY AND SOCIAL JUSTICE (WITSOJ)

The legal status of the Organization: The Organization is a big Coalition of varied great women groups in Nigeria that are well registered and recognised in the Country and Overseas.

However the above common name of this noble coalition is  registered by CAC.

We have our Board of Trustee made up of reputable man and women who has over the time past distinqished themselves in society. Such as Hon. Nimi Walson Jack( one time secretary General of NBA National and presently a Commissioner in Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission.

Barr. Akuro . R. George; A gentle man per excellent and immediate past NBA 1ST Vice President. Barr. Busola Olaguji a female activist and a member of NBA; Mrs Nene Amachree and Comrade Gbgenga Komolafe of the American Solidarity Centre.

Our leaders were duly elected. Here is our Organizational Structure

We have various committees; Health, Education, Budget, Election Processes and Media committee.

The ways the various committees relate to each other is that each committee plans projects/ work plan of their committee, summits it to the general house who jointly execute the project together with committee members.

We have five staff, of whom two are paid whilst three are volunteers.
Staff qualification: Christy Ikpo a master degree holder in Chemical Engineering,
Sarah Apia a legal practitioner,
Princess Jennifer Spiff a Political Scientist.

We have more than 300 women volunteers and members in our Coalition, since it is made up of women wing of NLC, FIDA, Catholic church daughters of charity, MOSOP, WOMEN, NAWOJ, NUJ Teachers CASS, FOWA etc.

 Our Coalition history of finance management, experiences with administering donor funded projects has been transparent as may be attested of by America Solidarity Centre, our Technical partner.
